Decipher’s incumbent licensing plan is designed to ease the transition cost and timing of clients wishing to migrate to Beacon while still under the terms of a competitive licensing agreement.
With the Beacon Transition Plan, there are no licensing costs until your existing research software contract expires. The plan allows you to field up to the number of completes on Beacon that you have guaranteed in your current, competitive contract during the transition period with a minimum Beacon contract commitment of 1 year + 50% of your existing competitive contract.
How does it work? Let’s say you have a 2-year term existing software contract that requires you to purchase a minimum of 10,000 completes per month. Your contract expires in May 2013. On the Beacon Transition Plan, with a 2-year Beacon contract, you’d be able to field up to 10,000 completes a month free of charge until your current contract expires. Any completes over 10,000 would be charged at your Beacon contract pricing.
